Digital Color Play or Useful Tool - Visualisation of Networks out of Registers of Editions and Regests

With the Big Data Wave breaking a lot of interesting software projects (open source and commercial) are developing powerful applications for data analysis and visualisation. My presentation will focus on Gephi, an open source software for analysing and visualising large scale graph data. I will use Gephi on a historical dataset accumulated from the digital indexes of the Regesta Imperii series. I will try to show how looking on graph based networks can open up new and surprising perspectives for historical research. My approach can be applied to other datasets from the humanities as well.
